昭「輝く」、和「平和」と意味になります。昭和の日（しょうわのひ）は、昭和天皇のお誕生日の思い出しをして4月29日に制定された日本の祝日です。この日からは学生と社会人、アルバイトの年次休暇を開始るゴールデンウィークもはじめます。
昭和天皇（1901年4月29日-1989年1月7日）、日本の第124代天皇で、1926年から1989年に亡くなるまで在位していた通称裕仁（ひろひと）のお名前で知られています。

Showa Day or Showa No Hi is an annual holiday in Japan held on April 29 to commemorate the birthday of Emperor Shōwa.This day starts the annual holiday for students and workers known as golden week.
Emperor Shōwa (昭和天皇, Shōwa-tennō, 29 April 1901 – 7 January 1989), commonly known by his personal name Hirohito (裕仁), was the 124th emperor of Japan, ruling from 1926 until his death in 1989.
There are two types of 100,000 yen gold coins, one to commemorate the throne of His Majesty the Emperor and the other to commemorate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor. शोको अर्थ "चम्किलो, राम्रो" वा "उज्ज्वल" हो, र वा को अर्थ "शान्ति" हो।
शोवा दिवस वा शोवा नो हि जापानमा अप्रिल २९ मा सम्राट शोवाको जन्मदिनको सम्झनामा मनाइने वार्षिक बिदा हो। यस दिनबाट विद्यार्थी र कामदारहरूको लागि वार्षिक बिदा सुरु हुन्छ जुन गोल्देन वीक पनि भनिन्छ ।
सम्राट शोवा (सम्राट शोवा, शोवा-टेनो, २९ अप्रिल १९०१ - ७ जनवरी १९८९), जस्लाई (हिरोहितो)नाम द्वारा चिनिन्छ, जापानका १२४ औं सम्राट थिए, जसले १९२६ देखि १९८९ मा आफ्नो मृत्यु सम्म शासन गरेका थिए ।
त्यहाँ दुई प्रकारका 100,000 येन सुनका सिक्का छन्, एउटा महामहिम सम्राटको सिंहासनको सम्झनामा र अर्को महामहिम सम्राटको 60 औं वार्षिकोत्सवको सम्झनामा। र अहिले दुबैको अनुहार मूल्य अत्यन्त उच्च छ। जे होस्, यदि तपाईं अहिले आफूसँग भएका सुनका सिक्का र चाँदीका सिक्का बेच्न चाहनुहुन्छ भने, कृपया सुनको सिक्का खरिद गर्ने नजिकैको पसलमा आउनुहोस्।

अप्रिल २९ मा सम्राट शोवाको जन्मदिनले गोल्डेन वीक समारोह सुरु हुँदै (शोवा डे, शोवा नो हाई) हालको सम्राटलाई सम्मान गर्ने यो बिदा मनैने गरिन्न्छ । मानिसहरू पतक, कागजको लालटेन बालेर र यात्रा गरेर छुट्टी मनाउने गर्छन्।
